The 2019 Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl game was held on December 21, 2019 between the Florida Atlantic University Owls and the Southern Methodist University Mustangs. The FAU Owls prevailed convincingly 52-28 at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton. This was the 6th annual Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl game.
The weather might have been a bit chilly with a steady stream of rain coming in waves throughout the game, but the FAU Owls were hot on the field. Their offense had their way with the SMU defense while the FAU defense held the Mustangs to 14 points entering the 4th quarter before 23,000+ fans.
The 2019 Cheribundi Bundi Boca Raton Bowl game was the first game for the FAU Owls without their head coach, Lane Kiffin, who left earlier in the week to take the head coaching job with Ole Miss. That didn’t stop the FAU Owls playing their best in their home stadium for interim coach, Glenn Spencer.
The FAU Owls finished the season with 11 wins and back to back Conference USA champions. The SMU Mustangs won the American Conference and finished with 10 wins.
