It’s funny that I haven’t step foot in the Florida Keys in over 10 years and in the past month I’ve been down there 3 times, twice for weddings. My last trip was to photograph Katie and John at the Postcard Inn in Islamorada, FL. It was the perfect day in the Florida Keys to have a wedding and I was glad I was there to capture it all.
I photographed Katie and John’s engagement session last year and they had so much fun at the shoot that they booked me to shoot their wedding. We kept in constant contact over the year and we met up again a month prior to the wedding to go over their wedding photography checklist.
For the wedding I brought Paris from Miami Elite Events as my assistant. With her knowledge and expertise with planning and coordinating weddings, she was a helpful asset in getting everyone ready for the family and wedding photos after the ceremony. It never hurts to have a wedding planner assist you as they know how the flow of weddings normally go and if there was an emergency, she would know how to handle it.
So we arrived to the Postcard Inn just as Kelly and her team from Get Gorgeous by Kelly started to do the hair and makeup for the bridal party. Kelly did an amazing job with the hair and makeup for all the girls. Through out the whole ceremony and reception all the girls looked amazing.
I was shuffling back between the girls and the guys getting ready which was a nice little workout as they were in separate buildings on the premises. I will have to say the highlight was seeing all the guys trying to figure out how to tie a bow tie.
The ceremony was really intimate and beautiful. Katie and John lucked out on the weather. It was picture perfect and I was happy they were able to enjoy it.
What I love about Katie and John was that they were up for anything. We took the bridal party photos up on the deck of the Rum Runner’s Bar and everyone was all for it. They were a fun couple which made taking their photos that much better.
After the first dance and the dances with the parents the party started. And I mean the party started and it didn’t stop. Everyone was on the dance floor moving and grooving and having a great time.
It was an amazing wedding to be a part of and I wish Katie and John all the best!
