There is only one game a season I look forward to, the Florida State game. The atmosphere is different. The crowds are bigger, louder and rowdier. It’s the perfect game to photograph and the only downside to this game was that the Miami Hurricanes lost a heartbreaker to the Florida State Seminoles.
From the time fans lined up at the Canes Walk to when the Florida State Seminoles blocked the extra point attempt to seal the game, the stadium was rocking. I never heard Hard Rock Stadium so loud. Not even when it was Sunlife Stadium, Dolphins Stadium or ever Landshark stadium. It was how a college football game atmosphere should be.
This game always brings out the abundance of media. There were yellow vests lining every inch of the sidelines and endzones. Fighting for real estate to shoot was a necessity. It wasn’t just photographers I had to contend with. My good friends ESPN (sarcasm. Can’t stand those entitled ESPNers) and even Showtime was there for their show A Season With Florida State Football plus all of the media for Florida State. A lot of jostling for positions and people yelling at ESPN for always just running up the sidelines and standing in front of a lens of a photographer as if they’re better than the rest.
The game was everything and then some. I could hear all the hard hits, the trash talking. It was awesome. The back and forth between the teams started at the coin toss and lasted to the end of the game. It just hurts as a Hurricanes fan that the Miami Hurricanes had to lose to Florida State in such a heartbreaking way.

I photobombed Jimbo Fisher’s post game interview with ESPN. Check for #52 in a yellow vest.
