The friendly match of Colombia vs. Venezuela at Hard Rock Stadium on September 7th was just the latest match of international soccer being played in the US. Sponsored by CMN Sports and Relevant marketing, the Colombia vs. Venezuela match was a highly anticipated one. Fans from both sides flocked to Hard Rock Stadium dressed in their team colors and I was there to capture it all.
I was hired by CMN Sports to photograph the match. The best part was the unlimited access I had. I was in both team locker room’s as well as all over the field prior to the match. What really got my attention was the sheer number of fans that showed up for their team. Flocks of fans in the parking lot tailgating and cheering all the way to their seats and all through the match was something I won’t forget.
The action on the field started off fast with a goal by Venezuela in the first five minutes, but it wouldn’t be until the middle of the second half before Colombia answered and ultimately took the lead and eventual victory in the friendly match. Of course as a photographer you want goals after goals because it makes for great photos, but you don’t always get what you want.
With Miami Dolphins owner, Stephen Ross, wanting more international soccer at Hard Rock Stadium, it is safe to say that you’ll be seeing more soccer images from me soon.
