After a heartbreaking loss to the Florida State Seminoles a week earlier, it was hard to predict how the game and the game photos from the Hurricanes and the Tar Heels would turn out. Turns out the Hurricanes played like the weather before the game, lousy. Back to back losses are never good for a Miami Hurricanes team and the fans let the team know about it.
Prior to the game it was nothing but torrential rainfall. The parking lots were giant pools and the skies were like a black cauldron. It wasn’t until 10 to 15 minutes before the Miami Hurricanes showed up for the Canes Walk that the rain finally stopped. For me taking game photos, I knew the field would be soggy and damp.
Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Miami Hurricanes handed out pink towels to all the fans while the player wore pink gloves or arm bands. Even Sebastian got into it by running out of the tunnel wearing a pink shirt.
The game was everything the Hurricanes did not want. They were down by double digits most of the game and their offense sputtered the majority of the game. Photo wise it was hit or miss. The rain earlier didn’t leave a lot of dry patches on the field to kneel to take photos. I had to use the pink towel handed out to fans to keep my knees and pants from getting soaked.
Midway through the 3rd quarter the skies opened up and the heavy rain fell. It rained and rained. It rained all the way to the end of the game. It wasn’t the best game weather wise and on the field, but I stuck it out to try to get the best game photos I could.
