There were no NFL records this time with the Miami Dolphins victory over the Oakland Raiders at Hard Rock Stadium. There was though an abundance of merciless heat and sun. The field temp was well over 100 degrees and without the slightest of breezes, you felt every degree of that hot temperature.
The word of the day was hydration. Every time I ran to the photo room to upload pics, I was drinking 2 bottles of water and then running back out onto the field. As you exited the tunnel the wall of heat just hits you like a brick wall and you instantly are soaked in sweat. I applied sunblock at least 4 or 5 times through out the game.
The game itself had some big plays. but a lot of smaller, insignificant plays. The Oakland Raiders had the lead going into the 4th quarter and squandered it. Perhaps the heat was too much for them and they were tired. Hell, I know I was tired. This was probably the one game I was praying for some rain. Just enough to cool us down a little bit.
Afterwards in the photo room, you could see the exhaustion on all the faces of everyone. Hopefully the next few home games the weather will begin to change. And by change I mean mid to low 80’s instead of 90’s.
